Meet the Team

Tom Flynn MVB CertSAD MRCVS [OV] – Clinical Director

Tom graduated from University College Dublin and worked in Ireland for four years before coming to the UK. Tom joined the Wanstead Hospital team in 1991 and was promoted to Clinical Director for the Group in 1997. Tom oversees the running of the Hospital and also plays an important practice-wide clinical role. He has a Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology and a special interest in soft tissue surgery. Any spare time is spent with his wife and three children.

John Gardner MA Vet MB CertSAS MRCVS [OV]

John joined the Wanstead team in 2008 as resident orthopaedic surgeon. He is a Cambridge University graduate who, since qualifying as a veterinary surgeon has worked at the Royal Veterinary College [RVC] in London as well as in practice in Hertfordshire. John achieved his Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2007. John spends most of his free time with his young family.

 

Klara Vargha DVM MRCVS

Klara has been a part of the Wanstead veterinary team since 1994, and joined us soon after graduating from Guelph University in Canada. Klara's special interest is feline medicine which reflects her love of cats.

Shaun Smith BVetMed CertSAS MRCVS

Shaun graduated from London RVC in 2005.  He attained a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery before joining the team at Wanstead.  Shaun has a particular interest in wound management as well as general surgery and orthopaedic surgery.  In his free time Shaun plays guitar and piano and has recently achieved his childhood dream of becoming a pilot.  Shaun has a bearded dragon called Ralph (who is actually a girl!)

 

Katherine Allan BSc BVSc(Hons) CertAVP (SAMF) MRCVS

Kath joined the team at Wanstead in August 2011 and originally qualified in Melbourne, Australia in 2002.  She has special interest in Medicine and has recently attained an Advanced Veterinary Practice Certificate in Small Animal Medicine - Feline.

Louise Worth BVSc GPCert SAS MRCVS

Louise joined the Wanstead team in February 2014 having qualified from Bristol Veterinary School in 2011.  Louise worked in small animal practice in Cambridge before carrying out an internship at Dick White Referral Centre. Louise has a special interest in general surgery, endoscopy and rabbits and has recently attained a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. In her spare time Louise is an avid traveller.

 

Max Foreman MA VetMB MRCVS

Max joined the Wanstead team in September 2015 having previously worked in charity clinics in the Caribbean.  He is a Cambridge University graduate with an undergraduate degree in Pathology and Epidemiology.  Max has a special interest in neurolgoy, general surgery and dogs!  He spends his free time with friends, travelling and flying birds of prey.

Sam Carroll BVSc BSc MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

Sam joined the team at Wanstead in 2016.  He graduated in veterinary science from the University of Bristol in 2016 having also received a Bachelor in anatomical science during his time at university.  Sam's special interests are in the field of feline medicine and general surgery.  In his spare time Sam likes to mix music, keep fit and enjoy the culture of London.

    

Janice Wilson BVM&S CertVA MRCVS – Emergency Hours Veterinary Surgeon

Janice has been part of our Wanstead Hospital team since 1988. Janice has a particular interest in veterinary anaesthesia, in which she holds a Certificate and in pain management as well as emergency and critical care. When she is not working Janice likes to travel and is keen on archaeology.

 

Goddard Veterinary Group commitment to Veterinary Students

Wanstead Veterinary Hospital has many assets of educational value and we regularly provide 'observation' placements for students from overseas and the UK Veterinary Schools. On occasion you may be asked if a veterinary student can be present during your pet's consultation with the vet. We are committed to the future of veterinary medicine and are keen to allow students to experience the expertise in veterinary care which we provide at our Hospitals.

Ellie Stock-Bishop RVN - Hospital Manager

Ellie joined the Wanstead Hospital team in 2006 where she was promoted to Charge Nurse in 2007 and Head Nurse in 2008, Nurse Manager in 2011 and is now the Hospital Manager helping with the smooth running of all aspects of client and animal care.  Ellie is a highly experienced veterinary nurse who has successfully made the change into management.

Dylan Reynolds RVN - Assistant to the Clinical Director

Dylan joined the Goddard Group in April 2015.  He is a registered veterinary nurse and his previous role was as the Group Head Nurse for a small group of veterinary practices in North London.  As a mature student Dylan gained a degree in Politics and International Relations and also has a post-graduate Diploma in Management from Birkbeck University.  Dylan assists Tom Flynn in the clinical aspects of the running of the Group.  Dylan owns a very naughty cat called Pablo.

Helen Cottrell BSc [Hons] RVN - Client Support Nurse

Helen originally joined Goddard Veterinary Group in 2002 and was then based at the Gidea Park branch. She transferred to Goodmayes in 2007. Prior to joining us, Helen completed a three year degree in Animal Science at Writtle College and since joining us she has qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse [RVN]. She has an elderly cat called Gizmo, who despite her age is very mischievous and in her spare time Helen enjoys making greeting cards, cross stitch and reading.

Julie Driscoll - Head Receptionist

Julie is the line manager for the reception team. She has been at the Wanstead Hospital for over 30 years and is highly valued and thought of by both staff and clients. Julie was promoted to Head Receptionist in 1981, and of course knows many of our clients and their pets by name. Deana Goom - Insurance & Accounts Coordinator

Deana joined the Hospital as part of the reception team in 1998 and became the Insurance Coordinator in 2007. Deana is a pet owner herself and plays an important role in helping with clients' account queries and processing their insurance claims quickly and efficiently.
